Tilly - sur - Seulles, Going Map
A map entitled 'Tilly-sur-Seulles, Going Map', France, 1:25,000 scale, Sheet No. 37/16 S.W., June 1943. The title 'Going Map' indicates that the map is overprinted to show areas of probable soft ground, and natural tank or vehicle obstacles. The map shows the area to the west and south-west of Tilly-sur-Seulles. This belonged to Mr Oliver H. Perks, who was a Forward Observation Officer with 90th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, part of 231 Brigade, 50th Division. On D-Day his Landing Craft, Tank (LCT), got waterlogged while crossing the Channel, and had to return to Shoreham, so he did not land in Normandy until three days later. He served in North West Europe until the end of the war.
