Tilly - sur - Seulles, Defence Overprint
A map entitled 'Tilly-sur-Seulles, Defence Overprint', France, 1:25,000 scale, Sheet No. 37/16 S.W., June 1943. Information about the German defences in this area, gathered from air photographs as at 28.7.1944, is overprinted on the map. The map shows the area west and south-west of Tilly-sur-Seulles. Field boundaries are marked on the map. This belonged to Mr Oliver H. Perks, who was a Forward Observation Officer with 90th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, part of 231 Brigade, 50th Division. On D-Day his Landing Craft, Tank (LCT), got waterlogged while crossing the Channel, and had to return to Shoreham, so he did not land in Normandy until three days later. He served in North West Europe until the end of the war.
