The D-Day Story Collection
A map entitled 'St Lo', France, 1:50,000 scale, Sheet 6F/2, 1943. The map shows the area north, east and north-east of St Lo. This belonged to Mr Oliver H. Perks, who was a Forward Observation Officer with 90th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, part of 231 Brigade, 50th Division. On D-Day his Landing Craft, Tank (LCT), got waterlogged while crossing the Channel, and had to return to Shoreham, so he did not land in Normandy until three days later. He served in North West Europe until the end of the war.
