The D-Day Story Collection

parachute material

A piece of a green Allied parachute. The villagers cut up the parachute, which was from an Allied supply drop to them, and kept a piece each as a souvenir. It is not clear whether the supply drop was only food, or also contained weapons intended for the French Resistance. It was presented to Mrs Jillian Green in 1958 by the villagers of Chateaumeillant.
