A photograph showing a group of American servicemen on the top deck of US Navy Landing Ship, Tank (LST) 627. Part of the papers of Canon F.W. (Mike) Crooks, a Royal Navy chaplain at the time of D-Day. On D-Day he crossed the English Channel on US Navy Landing Ship, Tank (LST) 529, and went ashore at Courseulles, Juno Beach. He stayed in Normandy for several days and then returned to the UK with wounded troops.
