The D-Day Story Collection

photograph album

A photograph album containing a wide selection of interesting photographs taken in Normandy and North West Europe from 8.7.1944 to spring 1945. The photographs were taken by Sergeant Edwin Crowe of the Lancashire Regiment. He seems to have been attached to a variety of different British corps and divisions, as well as other Allied units, and has included copies of their badges in the album. Some of the photos of his unit apparently include despatch riders and radio masts, so he was perhaps in some kind of communications role. Includes a photo of dummy landing craft in Dover Harbour before D-Day, and one of the concrete casemates of the Longues battery after Allied bombardment.
