The D-Day Story Collection


A Royal Navy officer's peaked cap which belonged to John Ellis. This is part of a group of objects relating to Sub Lieutenant Leslie Fowler, commanding officer of Landing Craft, Tank (LCT) 2130 on D-Day, and his first lieutenant, Sub Lieutenant John Ellis. LCT 2130 was an LCT Mk.V and was part of 104th LCT Flotilla. She embarked American troops at Dartmouth, and on D-Day landed them on Utah Beach around 11.20am. For the next three months she continued to carry troops over to Normandy.
