Appliqué Anemone de Caen embroidery class

Friday 22 October 2021

10.30am to 4.30pm

Royal School of Needlework tutor, Helen Stevens, will be teaching an applique anemone embroidery motif at this Museum Partner class. Students will also hear more about the Overlord Embroidery (stitched by the RSN from 1968 to 1974) in an exclusive presentation by a museum expert during the event.

This stunning Anemone design features the same techniques used in the Overlord Embroidery panels. Vibrant layers of deep lilac and fuchsia silk dupion appliqued with couching stitches are used in combination with straight stitches to create the highlights and depths of the Anemone is the same way as used in the large panels.

As well as an exclusive insight into how the Overlord Embroidery was designed and stitched, you will also receive a free pass for one visit to the museum, valid for 12 months from the date of the class.
