Friday 15 February 2019
10:00 to 15:00
In this workshop you will look at ways in which you can care for your textile treasures from items of dress to embroidered samplers.
Under the guidance of Sarah Howard, professional textile conservator, you will discover how to store, pack and display your textiles and learn practical ways in which they can be repaired and conserved. Drawing on the experience and skills used behind the scenes at The D-Day Story, you will find out tips used by museum professionals to preserve and conserve their textile collections including how to spot pests that attack textile fibres.
You are welcome to bring your own treasured textile to receive advice and guidance on how to care for it. No previous knowledge or practical experience is necessary – just your attention and enthusiasm!
Tickets are £60 and include lunch and refreshments. They must be booked in advance on Eventbrite
