Portsmouth City Council is looking to commission a permanent public sculpture/installation on the theme of D Day 75 and peace, to reflect the role Portsmouth played in Operation Overlord.
It will honour Portsmouth’s position as the departure point for many troops 75 years ago, and the instrumental role these men played in bringing peace to Europe.
Applications are now being accepted for the commission, for an artist or artists to reinterpret peace in today’s environment. The final piece will stand proudly outside the museum for 10 years or more, offering museum visitors a place for quiet contemplation.
