The Parenting Network used their grant to buy consumable stock for the Baby Bank. The Baby Bank exists to support some of the poorest families in Portsmouth at their time of greatest need. Over 65 families and around 100 young children benefited from the Grant for Greater Wellbeing.
The pandemic saw many families lose income and babies risk not having access to their bare necessities. The grant helped to strengthen families by providing consumables to lessen the stress for families when welcoming a new born. By doing so the Baby Bank strived to give Portsmouth’s youngest residents a good start in life.
Each family was provided with a support package of:
- A month’s supply of nappies
- Baby food
- Maternity toiletries
Dependent on the family’s need, the Baby Bank also provided:
- Baby equipment
Throughout the lockdown it was a challenge to provide support due to social distancing. Baby Bank Portsmouth worked hard to make sure the voices of the seldom heard were listened to and respected. We look forward to welcoming families back to The D-Day Story. For more information about Portsmouth Baby Bank visit: https://theparentingnetwork.co.uk/baby-bank.
