Goldwork skies inspired by the Overlord Embroidery class

Friday 23 April 2021

10am to 4pm

In association with the Royal School of Needlework.

Join tutor Helen Stevens to stitch this beautiful Goldwork Stork motif inspired by the Overlord Embroidery in an online class in partnership with the Royal School of Needlework. Students will hear more about the museum’s Overlord Embroidery (stitched by the RSN from 1968 to 1974) in an exclusive presentation during the day.

The design is a re-working of Panel 17 of the Overlord depicting the sky minutes after midnight on D-Day. You will use mainly metallic threads worked in a variety of Goldwork techniques including, couching, pearl purl, twist and cutwork.
