Goldwork stork embroidery class

Friday 26 March 2021

10am to 4pm

In association with the Royal School of Needlework.

Join tutor Helen Stevens to stitch this beautiful Goldwork Stork motif in an online class in partnership with the Royal School of Needlework. Students will hear more about the museum’s Overlord Embroidery (stitched by the RSN from 1968 to 1974) in an exclusive presentation during the day.

This stunning stork design will be worked in Goldwork using a variety of metallic threads including passing, tambour thread, purl pearl and some cut work stitches. This class is suitable for those new to the technique and for more experienced stitchers.

Helen says she adapted the image of the stork from a medieval document.
It pays homage to the many ships of the Royal Navy that took part in Operation Neptune which included HMS Stork.
