Heritage Open Days

Friday 18 September 2020

6pm to 6.45pm

Take part in a free virtual tour of the Overlord Embroidery presented by Tracy Teasdale, Learning Officer with Portsmouth Museums and author of the new guidebook for the embroidery.

The Overlord Embroidery tells the story of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy in 34 extraordinary panels with a total length of 83 metres. Designed by artist Sandra Lawrence, it was hand-stitched by the Royal School of Needlework. It was commissioned by Lord Dulverton to commemorate the sacrifice of those who took part in D-Day and is on permanent display at the museum.

To take part in the virtual tour, visit our Facebook page www.facebook.com/TheDDayStory at 6pm on 18 September 2020.
