The West Beach at Littlehampton was used by Force S during Exercise Fabius on 3 May 1944. The Exercise was the last rehearsal before the D-Day landings. The Beach was ‘assaulted’ by units of the 3rd British Infantry Division, who would land on Sword Beach on D-Day. After landing troops advanced inland, ‘capturing’ Yapton, Littlehampton, and Arundel, which represented Caen – the Division’s objective on D-Day.
