Hawthorn Leslie and Company, Hebburn, Tyne and Wear.

The site of where hundreds of landing craft were built for the D-Day Landings, including Landing Craft, Tank (LCT) 7074 which is currently being renovated in Portsmouth.

LCT 7074 took part in the D-Day Landings. Embarking from the River Orwell, she was sent to land on Gold Beach where she successfully landed 9 out of the 10 Sherman Tanks carried on the craft. Post D-Day, the LCT was decommissioned in 1948 and served as a nightclub before being left to decay. After gaining funding from National Memorial Heritage Fund (NHMF), the craft was resurfaced and transported to Portsmouth in late 2014.
