Perspectives on Holocaust memories

Sunday 27 January 2019

14:00 to 15:00

Renowned playwright Rib Davis will be using existing holocaust survivor interviews, held in the National Life Stories Collection, as the starting point for a new play exploring how memory works, how it is publicly presented, and specifically how we access traumatic memories differently over time. In this talk he will explore the process of working on this sensitive and fascinating project. Rib is the British Library/ National Life Stories Goodison Fellow and has many years of experience in the field of Oral History.

We are running this event to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. 27th January is the day for everyone to remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, and the millions of people killed under Nazi Persecution, and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.

Entry to The D-Day Story is free on Holocaust Memorial Day. The talk is £4 (£3 concessions) and should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment. To book call 023 9283 4744 / 4737 or email MuseumsVisitorServices@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
